Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are absolutely fantastic and very devoted to doing their best at school. They show up to school early to help tutor each other and care about every person in our school community. They are compassionate and kind, and I'm proud to be their teacher.

I want to make sure every one of my students has access to mental health resources that will help them get through the challenges of senior year.

This is particularly important right now as they are hard at work on college applications. This can be a very emotional time writing these vulnerable college essays, and many of them take advantage of the calm corner and fidgets that I provide to help them cope with these emotions. However, I currently don't have enough resources for all of them and could use additional support. I have selected fidgets, coloring books, and games that will help them process and work through these emotions.

Further, even beyond college application season, senior year is full of plenty of turmoil and anxiety for students. I want them to have resources that last all year long. This is especially important for my students, many of whom are dealing with additional challenges such as supporting their families financially or balancing caring for multiple family members.
