My Project

In my math classroom, students need many supplies to be successful. All students need paper. Very few of them come to class with any sort of writing implements or notebook paper. In math, these are essential items. I would like students to be able to have access to an endless supply of these things. For my visual learners, I have found erasable highlighters are extremely helpful.

Over the course of the year, I host "mental health" days in my math class where students are given the option to check in their phone for the period and have a chance to unwind with a book, write a thank you note, complete a coloring sheet, a puzzle, or Sudoku puzzle.

I also provide snacks and mood music to complete the scene. Students have written to me about how much they love being able to disconnect and focus on caring for themselves during just a regular class period at school. I plan to use the snacks during these mental health days in my classroom.
