My Project

I work as a school counselor with ninth through twelfth graders in a public school who are struggling with mental health and wellness. I would like materials to fill my office in order to work with these teens.

The pressures of growing up and worrying about their current state, as well as their future, grows throughout the year.

These items will help during counseling sessions to ease anxiety, relieve stress, and calm anger during times of crisis. The Lego set will help redirect their emotions when dealing with a crisis using sensory tiles. The snacks always help my students when they come in and have a hard time connecting; this usually opens them up a little. The yoga ball and the calm ball will help my most struggling students to bounce on or fidget with when they are agitated, distressed, or unfocused. It helps to calm them so that they can be receptive to learning calming techniques. The kinetic sand and the cube set will be used as fidgets for my students who have difficulty staying on task in conversation during counseling. I would also like to create projects with my students to promote mental health awareness around the school for the community to see. I would like to use the photo printer to post pictures of students around the room with mental health words to promote awareness. The wall art posters will help to decorate the room with motivational words for those who need a visual tool.
