My Students

Our school corporation is a rural district trying to equip our students with the skills and experiences to be successful in our ever-changing world. I have the privilege to teach first grade in our small rural district.

My first grade students are excited about the world around them.

As their teacher, it is my goal to create opportunities to make them curious about the world around them. My goal is to empower them to ask questions and find answers. My students are world changers.

My Project

Fostering the love of reading is at the heart of the teaching profession. I long to build readers who can enjoy reading a variety of diverse books. Our school district uses a basal reading program. I use the basal as part of my reading instruction. I also want to put trade books into the hands of all my readers.

I am looking to build my classroom library with the Mensa recommended books.

The students in my classroom will read and listen to the 65 recommended books and then be awarded a certificate and a Mensa for Kids T-shirt.

Please help our students develop a love for reading with diverse books that encourage thinking and inspire a life-long love for learning.
