Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I enjoy working in special education and this year will be my 14th year working in the New York City Schools. This year I will be teaching 2nd and 3rd grade self contained. I have 12 students that I and looking forward to working with and I want to create a learning environment that is safe, educational, and fun. I want them to feel welcomed and loved.

This year I am moving into a different classroom and in need of a new rug.

The rug I choose is diverse and will bring in the social studies piece of learning as well. I work with students with a variety of "abilities" from autism, to learning disabilities to social/emotional challenges. The clock and timer is a way for my students to stay on task and be aware of the school day schedule. This year, I plan on creating work stations, the wobble chairs would benefit those students that have difficulty sitting still.

I would appreciate all the support in assisting my students and creating a classroom that they can enjoy and feel comfortable in. We thank you in advance for all your generosity.
