Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 26 eager and excited fourth graders. They all come to school ready to learn, no matter the challenges they face at home. They are a diverse group of students from low-income backgrounds who speak multiple languages, play sports, have different interests and talents, and are excited to gain new knowledge each day.

They are passionate about making a difference in the world through many channels.

My students see how current issues in the world are impacting them, their families, and communities, and they are ready to take charge in having their voices heard. Although they are 9 and 10 years old, they are ready to create change and be social activists.

My Project

We are returning back to school in February. Due to Covid-19 restrictions are schedules are not very ideal this year. My students will be eating lunch an hour after breakfast which means they will have 4 hours of school remaining before they can go home to eat. I can already hear the tummies growling in the afternoon from hunger.

You can't learn on an empty stomach.

This project will provide my students with a healthy afternoon snack. This snack will help students stay focused on learning and help prevent them from being totally distracted by that grumbling belly.
