This group of students has inspired me with their love and excitement for learning. I've seen many of these students grow up through the years - knowing them since they were in Kindergarten or 1st grade. They make me so grateful to be a teacher - with their smiles, hugs, and passion.
My students are all from low-income households, with 100% receiving free lunch.
Some of the families struggle to provide basic needs for the children. Even with the struggles that families face, the students are happy, positive learners.
I find myself going "the extra mile" for my students (past and present). I want to make learning fun for them because they bring so much joy to my heart. It breaks my heart that so many of these students need help just having their basic needs met.
My Project
This project will provide uniform shirts and pants for many of the students in my school. We have seven families that are experiencing homelessness. We have many more families that are going through hard times and cannot afford school clothes for their children.
Meeting the most basic needs is a struggle for many of our families, especially the students who are experiencing homelessness.
As teachers, we have to make sure our students' basic needs are met before we can even attempt to educate them. It breaks my heart when my students come to school in torn, dirty, ill-fitting clothes.
This project will ensure that any family, homeless or just experiencing tough times, will be able to have new school uniform clothes for their children to wear to school. Students won't have to come to school in dirty, torn/ripped, or ill-fitting clothes anymore. This project will help take one huge worry away from the parents and students, so they can focus on learning.
