My Students

My students are an amazingly empathetic, attentive, and charismatic bunch of first graders. They all currently live in different circumstances but all live within Ward 8 DC. Despite whatever life circumstances come into play, they always come to school ready to learn. Many of our students have worked hard to be on or above grade level, beating the odds set against them.

My Project

Our students are finally able to sit together and have community meetings after months of sitting apart. I would love for them to have rugs to sit on, listen and discuss current events, see each other’s faces, share ideas and truly enjoy meeting each other around the rug, something that they have missed so far their whole school careers.

These students will benefit from these beautiful rugs in the excitement of finally being able to sit together and share with each other in the way 6 year olds enjoy!

We would also love a current events subscription as I have an inquisitive bunch of students who would benefit from an age appropriate version of the current news.
