Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our schools does not have a open library. My students only have the classroom library which is not inviting. Its hard to keep they engaged during the reading lessons when they are complaining about sitting on the floor with no rug.

My school is a Title 1 school in New York.

The school is mostly Latino and African American. I have 12:1:1 classroom with all boys. I have third and fourth graders. My students like to be comfortable and welcomed in the classroom. They do not like just sitting at their desk. They coming to the meeting area working with the smart board. They want to be able to sit and read in the library. I have no rugs and they complain about getting dirty and the floor is not comfortable area.

My Project

I am requesting two rugs for my meeting areas. My school doesn't have an open access library. My students only have the classroom library. The classroom library is the meeting area for reading. My students are expected to sit on the floor and be comfortable. The floor is hard and cold which distracts the students. The students complain about the floor is dirty and cold. The students are meet in the meeting area. Having the rugs makes the room inviting. The second rug is for the second meeting area. I have smart board and where it is my second meeting area. The students like sitting in front of it. With no meeting for the students sit at desk and they were not collaboratively at the desk. There is push to make the room more inviting and less containing. I want my students to area where they go to sit and read. I don't want the students worry about the floor being to hard for them and cold.

This project is important because I want the students to feel invited and comfortable in their classroom.

The students are expected to sit on the floor for the meetings area. I cant expect my students to sit on the floor without a rug. When you go to a library there are rugs for the kids to sit and read. When you read you do not always have to be a your desk. I am teaching the kids you find any place to read. The meeting area for the smart board place where I have the kids teach each other.
