My Project

A class meeting area is important in the First Grade classroom. It is used for calendar time, morning messages, read alouds, and so much more. It is a place to gather, collaborate, and learn. Currently we have no carpet; we have a cement floor. The old carpets were removed after the Pandemic.

I have missed having a carpet for our meeting place.

This last year, my class sat on the cement floor. Not only was it cold, but students did not look forward to read aloud time, carpet work, or group work, because they had to sit on the cold floor. A class meeting place should be a happy place for students. A place that promotes community, collaboration, and a place to reflect.

Now that the Pandemic has passed, we are allowed to have carpets in the classrooms. My students deserve a comfortable and warm carpet. A place where they can come together and feel safe, included, and loved.
