My Project

A meditation room that focuses on the different sensory needs and social emotional styles of my students will give a variety of ways for students to learn coping skills and mindfulness practices that can help decrease their anger. My students are from areas where they are prone to violence and are less likely to learn these skills at home. This room will make a huge impact in their lives and along the way of their SEL journey. A fun, inviting space is just what we need in our school today. The bean bag chairs, are to give students a comfortable and fun place to sit and talk similar to a couch. Glow sticks and mini notebooks for journaling with the girls and boys groups. Posters around the room to help with positive words and quotes to uplift students and encourage them to think positively. Card decks will be used to teach coping skills and have better decision making skills. We are also getting different fidgets for our students diagnosed with autism for sensory needs.
