My Project

Last year Hurricane Ian hit our community with a Category 5 force. Cranberry Elementary is a Title One School. Many of our families live paycheck to paycheck. The hurricane damaged 48 of our classrooms. Many homes were completely destroyed. Students lost most of their personal belongings. Clothes, toys, school supplies and books were lost. Providing a warm, inviting space to enjoy the media center books will help students start to heal from so much loss. I know that reading is definitely an escape for many people, my students and myself included.

This is my first year as the new media specialist.

It's the 21st year of the school in operation and the area rug is original to the building. It definitely needs to be changed. In addition to wanting a new rug, I want to create a warm, inviting space for the students to feel comfortable enough to relax and snuggle up with their favorite book. Providing bean bags and oversized pillows in the Everybody Section will help create the cozy environment I am envisioning. The media center should feel like the hub of the school.
