This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I'm so excited to begin my second year of teaching Kindergarten. Part of that excitement comes from the addition of new books for our classroom library! Each of these books will be essential to creating a welcoming classroom environment and teaching essential skills students will need to be successful!

I plan to use each book to teach students about different aspects of Kindergarten!

The On Strike! books will be used to teach about the proper ways to use different materials in our classroom. For some students this might be the first time they've used these materials so I'm excited to use a different approach to teach them how to use them appropriately.

Many of the other books will be used either on the first day of school or during the first few weeks of school. I plan to use the Mindfulness books right away to help foster an calm and relaxed environment in my room. The strategies and lessons taught from each of these books will teach skills my students will use long after Kindergarten!
