Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are in a self-contained InD (intellectual disabilities) class. We are the STARS program. STARS stands for Students Transitioning and Achieving Real-Life Skills, and their ages range from 14-22 years of age. Along with academics we participate in Sports ability programs and Special Olympics. These items would assist our students with hand eye coordination, fine and gross motor skills and coordination. My students enjoy being active and the bean bag toss would be an asset to the students who are unable to run and jump due to their disability. The basketballs would be a wonderful tool for our in school adaptive PE program. Unfortunately, the lack of equipment has always been a problem.

Our goal is to have the materials needed to help the students learn sportsmanship, and better coordination which will help them in their daily life.

My students deserve more than what I am able to give them, and I want them to have the same opportunities as the general education and sports is a great bridge between the two.
