My students use their Chromebooks each and every day to improve their proficiency in Math and Language Arts. It can get extremely noisy without the appropriate tools necessary to keep things quiet while learning and practicing.
Headphones are an important tool while using Chromebooks to ensure my students can hear without distractions.
They need headphones that are easy to use and not too large. These headphones are lightweight and can be adjusted to fit each student. The volume can be easily adjusted as well. Each day my students practice on skills they haven't quite mastered yet such as sight words, addition, subtraction, vowel sounds, letter sounds, digraphs and blends. These skills are all part of the state standards that each student must master in order to move on to the next level and be first grade ready. Technology skills are part of this as well. The headphones allow each student to work on their recommendations based on assessments given, so they are specialized for each child. Therefore, it is very important to wear their headphones during this part of the day.
Also, we use a lot of laminating paper in kindergarten. Kindergarten students need environmental print so that they may learn words and build upon their vocabulary. This is especially important for English Language Learners. Word walls have the pictures along with the words. Once these word walls are printed, they must be protected in order for them to last.
