This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

All elementary teachers know that small group time is where we get the best use of our time. We’re able to group students strategically to reach them where they are at.

Let’s face it, keeping small group time interesting can be a struggle— especially in upper elementary when there are shifts like phonics to fluency and comprehension (woo hoo, am I right?).

I ask: why should foundational skills get all the fun? My goal is to use resources in this project to improve small group time by making it more engaging, meaningful, and productive for my scholars.

Of course, my ultimate and overarching goal is to maximize learning outcomes in my classroom; targeting my small group time is just one way of making my classroom a smarter place.
