Help Mr. Massey

My Students

I have a diverse group of students. Each student has a distinct personality and learning style. They bring great attitudes to the classroom and I feel that they all understand the importance of a solid mathematics education.

In my classroom I have students who bring a wide variety interests, skills, and cultural backgrounds.

My classroom provides rigorous challenges for these students, but they are learning to trust me and trust themselves and it's such a pleasure to watch them grow.

My Project

Currently I have classes of 30+ students. As a new teacher to the district my classroom is furnished with a collection of hand me down furniture and we are located in a pod outside of the main building. The current furniture is a hodgepodge collection of cumbersome tables that make the room crowded and don't allow for flexible learning groups. They contain cubby holes that are filled with graffiti and profanity that I've had to black out with sharpie. The chairs are whatever I could scrounge up from our storage room. Each day kids rush to class and compete for the "best chairs". Some have broken feet and wobble as the kids sit and work. Some chairs are so short that kids are seated low to the tables and it makes for an awkward learning space. Often times these students choose to stand instead. The current furniture makes the classroom space crowded and limits my ability to create seating arrangements that would maximize my students ability to learn. Many of my students get frustrated as they have trouble seeing and focusing on the lessons.

My hope for my students is they can have a classroom space that they are proud of and helps them to feel that they are valued.

My dream is to have a classroom that doesn't feel crowded allows for flexible learning groups. My students deserve a learning environment that is comfortable and helps to maximize their full potential. This is why I'm asking for Learniture Structure Series School Chair for my classroom.
