My Project

Yoga mats are defined as a personal space. Yoga mats are crucial when practicing with young children, who are still learning how to manage their bodies in relation to others. Yoga mats make the practice more comfortable and sanitary for our students rather than sitting on the cold floor or carpet. Yoga mats provide a non-slip surface, reducing the risk of slips and falls when practicing the poses. Stability is crucial for children as they develop balance and coordination. The cushioning of a yoga mat protects children's joints, such as knees and elbows, from hard surfaces, making poses more comfortable and encouraging longer participation. A yoga mat delineates a personal area for each child, helping them understand boundaries and maintain focus during group sessions. Using individual mats ensures that children have a clean surface for practice, minimizing exposure to dirt and germs, especially in shared spaces.

Mats are important, specifically for kids in making the practice more inviting and enjoyable.

Yoga helps young learners improve their flexibility, strength, and balance. Our kids love yoga. They often share the poses with parents and relatives because they are so proud of what they learned. They also use different breathing techniques to calm down and this supports their social emotional development. They are learning regulation skills that will support them throughout their academic careers.

My goal is for our early childhood learners to understand that having a personal yoga mat can instill a sense of ownership, responsibility, motivating them to engage in regular practice, develop spatial awareness and a healthy routine.

Our pre-k yogis are special because they come to every yoga lesson with enthusiasm and eagerness to learn.
