This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Math and Science as part of a Structured English Immersion Bilingual program.

My students are bilingual in both Spanish and English. Our school is Title I, meaning that the majority of our students come from lower income households. They are at a variety of levels, some struggling to meet grade-level standards, others ready to be challenged and continue growing their math knowledge and skill fluency. Despite their varying abilities and levels, all my kids come into the classroom excited to learn and ready to work - their energy and enthusiasm inspires me!

My Project

The resources I am requesting are to be used in math class as part of a well-rounded, differentiated and hands-on approach to learning. I have created math stations for which many of these supplies will be utilized, including a station for math apps using the Ipod touches, differentiated math centers, and teacher-led, manipulative based guided math groups.

These kids will be able to practice and improve their math skills according to their levels and learning needs using hands-on manipulatives, literature and math center games.

We will be able to incorporate technology into our daily learning and will work towards increasing skill fluency as well as gaining confidence in our mathematics abilities!
