My students are part of the modern media communications magnet program. We specialize in integrating 21st-century skills within our math and science curriculum. One project we are working on is kid blogging and publishing student work into text. With a diverse magnet population, our sixth grade team serves students from East, South North and West Los Angeles. We are excited to partner with local media industries in our community to help bring learning to life. Through relevant programming, children are challenged and engaged to participate in written, and oral communication.
Please support my class to become 21st-century learners and leaders!
My Project
My students are engaged, hands on math learners. We need whiteboards and whiteboard markers to help each student with hands on computations. Because we are teaching and learning during the pandemic, it is crucial for each student to have their own set of materials. This reduces the risk of cross contamination.
Writing is not always seen in math classes, let's make this change!
Students are now learning how to write, create and solve word problems using real life applications and skills. We are in need of mechanical pencils to help with the high demand of writing and problem solving. Due to Covid- 19, our classroom is not utilizing a pencil sharpener. This is to ensure that all materials are securely used by only one person. We also need whiteboards for students to practice writing, solving and sharing word problems. Currently we are learning how to solve ratios using three different strategies. White boards will allow students to practice, trial and error, erase and redo particular problems while working with friends.
