This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I'm a math teacher in a low income/ high poverty school with students from different countries, some are refugees and have been through rough situations in their countries, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Guatemala, Honduras, India among other countries and speaking different languages. Despite their difficult circumstances, they are eager to learn and show interest in educating themselves.

I want to close the achievement gaps with my students.

I want them to be successful in school because I know they are capable of so much. I want to make a difference in their lives by providing them with an education that will challenge and sharpen their knowledge.

My Project

These 3 laptops will give my students the opportunity to explore mind blowing games. Some of my students don't own a computer or laptop at home and some of them are new to this country, therefore the computers will be utilized to problem solve using Think Through Math, Moby Max Math, I-station Math, among other programs.

Giving low-income students access to new technology is an investment in their future.

Allowing them to experience these computer programs in their new laptops will help them learn math as well as English if they are new to our country and don't speak our language.
