My Students

We enjoy using hands-on learning materials to help us problem solve and explain our thinking. We love to use music to help us learn.

My first graders represent many diverse ethnic backgrounds and come from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds.

There is a wide range of academic abilities in our classroom. Students are eager to learn and strive to do their best at all times. They enjoy interactive and hands-on learning.

My Project

My students need math manipulatives including number line slider boards, math games and Unifix Cubes, 6 Boogie Boards and a speaker. I am requesting the 6 Boogie Boards for small group instruction in math and reading. Students will be able to use the Boogie Boards to demonstrate mathematical thinking and writing skills. The Boogie Boards and project sleeves will help us conserve paper. My first graders will be using dice to explore mathematical concepts in a hands-on and engaging way. They will develop skills as they collaborate with others and learn to persevere and develop patience with problem solving. My students will be smiling, listening, and singing math songs to help develop their number sense.

In order to truly engage our young mathematicians in math, we need many hands-on learning experiences and opportunities to share our thinking.

These resources will give students the opportunity to do that. These resources will enrich students learning and the way I teach. My first graders will love learning with these resources and feel so successful that it will help spark a love of learning that will hopefully continue through their whole lives.
