This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school, where my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. The majority of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch, some have learning disabilities, and many are English language learners.

Despite these challenges, they still come to school eager to learn.

I am excited that I get to witness my students learning and growing!

Every day when I come to school, I get asked so many questions from my little, eager-to-learn students. My students are risk-takers in the classroom and are always trying new things...it is inspiring!

My Project

I am asking for these materials to give my students hands-on learning with math and science. These manipulatives will allow them to actually "see" the math and science lessons in school.

My students will be able to become mini mathematicians and scientists with these materials!

I plan on using the geoboards and inch/centimeter cubes when learning about area and perimeter. The geoboards will give students the opportunity to change shapes, area, and perimeter to better understand how it works. The inch and centimeter cubes will allow them to physically measure the area and perimeter of objects around the room. The measuring scales, weights, and beakers will be used for hands-on labs where students will become scientists and practice these new skills.

These materials will be so beneficial for my students who already have so much love and curiosity for math and science. Help them dive into STEAM activities!
