My Students

Help us catch up to other students around the country! We are learning more and more advanced number concepts but are limited in some areas because we lack the resources to fully experience math!

My classroom is made up of very diverse learners.

I work in guided math groups daily in an attempt to meet the needs of the boys and girls in my class. Our school is a newer school but is located in a poor area. Being a Title 1 school means that there are many children who do not have adequate resources at home. It is my hope that we can have the type of materials at school that can provide a rich learning environment.

My Project

I am requested a classroom set of calculators. I currently have 25 students and am told that those numbers will be up next year due to budget short falls. The set contains 35 basic calculators and a hanging chart that is easy to access and keeps materials organized. I plan to use the calculators to enrich their number concepts. I would like to use these calculators for guided and independent practice, as well as in centers for inquiry learning. It is my hope that my students will learn how to use a calculator so they can utilize this tool throughout their educational career. It is a skill that will be called upon for the rest of their lives!

Technology has become a defining part of life and I want my students to embark on their educational careers and future endeavors on the same playing field as their peers.

This is a gift that will bring new energy to my mathematics instruction!
