This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom is one that is filled with learning activities, from the moment my students walk in the door, until the second they leave at the end of the day. They are second graders who love to explore and manipulate hands on math tools. My students are always eager to learn!

My students are curious and eager second graders who love learning new math concepts and strategies.

Our school is located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley and my students come from diverse backgrounds and different socio-economic statuses. I am fortunate to have the honor of teaching students who come to school every day, ready to learn. However, we are a Title 1 school, so our funding and supplies are limited. We do not always have all the resources we need to make learning math fun and exciting.

My Project

My students need new math tools that will help them learn and understand second grade math concepts. The new ten frames, write and wipe number lines, geometric foam shapes, calendar math and regrouping activities will make math fun. My students will use these new math tools to practice their math skills daily. They will use the ten frames to master their addition and subtraction facts. The new classroom calendar will be used each morning to reinforce many math skills such as, patterns, odd and even numbers, regrouping, and place value. My students will be able to touch and manipulate all of these new math tools. This will make learning math fun and exciting for every single student in my class. We will be able to use these tools all year long to practice and learn second grade math strategies.

Your donation will make a difference because it will allow my students to master all the second grade math skills that students must learn before they go to third grade.

It will allow my students to be more comfortable and confident in math. This project will also allow my students to have the tools they need to practice many math concepts and strategies. These tools will also help my students be more focused and motivated during math. These tools will make learning fun!
