My Students

I teach second grade in a Title I school, which means there are a high number of students on free and reduced-priced lunch. Many of the students do not always have the means to get school supplies and resources to help them be well prepared for school. Some of the students come from single income backgrounds, live with extended family, or are homeless. The students are eager to learn and desire to be successful. I want to make sure that I provide a nurturing, safe, loving classroom where students can feel comfortable to learn and grow in their education and character. I personally believe that if they are given love, attention, encouragement, and inspiration, they can become successful in anything. My second graders learn through engaging, meaningful activities and use their creativity to apply what they have learned. I teach my students social, emotional, and academic skills through play with stuffed animals. My students are in a Personalized Learning environment, in which they complete differentiated tasks at their own pace, take ownership of their work, and reflect on their learning process.

My Project

I love math and it is important for me to spread this passion to my students. I want them to grow to learn this subject and face the math problems with confidence. Math can be scary for some students as it's as if they were learning a different language. I want my students to enjoy math and confront it with enthusiasm, excitement, and perseverance. I teach math through fun activities, engaging stories, games, and stuffed animals. My students need these math resources to help them reinforce math skills through fun, engaging activities. Not only do these math games enrich the math standards, but students will also be strengthening their social skills by learning to share, communicate, and work cooperatively.

I teach in a personalized learning classroom, in which all my students learn at their own pace.

Having math resources that cover different grade levels will help me to meet the needs of all my students. These games are at grade level, as well as above grade level for those who need challenge tasks.
