Our school is in Missouri. We are a low income, high poverty school. Most of my students have experienced more in their 9 years than most have in their lifetime.
These kids are full of love and high hopes; and for most of them, education is one of the only ways to a better life.
My goal is to provide my students with a safe and nurturing environment for them to learn and grow. Each one of them has different strengths and weaknesses, but all of them are more than willing to learn and be loved. I want to find a way to teach to my students and help them to reach their potential.
My Project
Most of my students rarely leave our town and only get to experience other cultures through books. They live in a small world they don't often get to leave.
Providing books on different cultures and history allow them a glimpse into places they may never physically see.
I am also sorely in need of math tools to help my students who struggle in this subject area. Math can be very difficult for students who are more hands on learners. Providing more tools to put in their hands will help these students to better grasp the topics that we cover in third grade.
