Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Our students come from diverse socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. We have a 76% rate of students who qualify for the free-reduced lunch program. Many student families are transient, some even qualify as homeless.
In many cases, school is the only place our students have unconditional support, love, and their basic needs met--as well as the rich inquiry-based educational experience they receive.
These students are ready to grow and learn. They want to be successful. They are capable, smart, and motivated.
By providing our students with well-rounded support, teaching them healthy choices, helping them activate their desire to be lifelong learners, and providing them with resources to build those skills they will have a strong future. They will be a generation that thrives by creating positive change and innovation.
My Project
To have authentic experiences in the classroom, we will use the "Ninja Professional Blender" to make smoothies with the fruits and vegetables provided by the Federal Fresh Fruits and Vegetables program. The Excalibur 3926TB Food Dehydrator will transform fruits and vegetables into long-lasting chips, and the Crock Pot 6-quart Programmable Cook & Carry will help us make delicious marinara out of raw cherry tomatoes and vegetables pureed in the Ninja Blender.
This authentic learning opportunity will allow students to explore Science, Math, and Writing while learning how to use products like the "Oster Extra Large Digital Countertop Oven," helping them develop a deep understanding of the Four Cs by using critical thinking to evaluate the foods they create, creativity through recipe design and presentation, collaboration between peers and student teams, and communication of the life-long cooking skills they discover.
Fremont's "FALCON" values will be highlighted in the following ways: "Focused" skills for long-term healthy living, "Appreciative" for things that are given to us, "Caring" for natural resources, "Leadership" by sharing our learning with others, "Open-minded" to trying new things, and "Noble" collaborators.
