My Students

Due to the pandemic last year many of our students struggled to achieve proficiency on the state assessment. As the math intervention specialist and a teacher librarian, I know that math intervention needs to be engaging. I service students ranging in age from Kindergarten to 5th grade. We are a small urban public school in the largest school district in the state and have some of the largest class sizes.

Students need a variety of resources beyond the math book to meet their needs; please help me provide math materials for the struggling students whom I serve.

My Project

Many students are lacking 1-2 years of previous mathematics skills. The last two years have proven to be a challenge with the pandemic. As the math intervention specialist and a teacher librarian, I know that math intervention needs to be engaging. Students need a variety of resources beyond the math book to meet their needs.

Utilizing children’s books, math manipulatives, and games will help students learn math concepts in ways that they cannot get from a curriculum math book.

I love that students can use these materials independently to work on their math and literacy skills.
