My Students

Have you ever heard a child or teen say, "I hate math!" My students will create videos to persuade others around the world to love math, and will teach their peers math concepts. They want to make hating math and math phobias things of the past.

My students are mostly learning disabled and English Language Learners.

They come from a high poverty school with many immigrant families. Although our school is very supportive, we are lacking in technology. Technology is very important for a quality 21st century education, and my students need to be exposed to as much technology as possible.

My Project

"I do, I learn." These flip cameras will give my students the experience of teaching math to other students and posting them on our class web site. This will give their peers around the world the opportunity to learn new concepts in kids' voices. The stories of my students overcoming math phobias will help inspire other students to gain a passion for math and try to learn why, not just how, projects work.

This project will be the first project posted on our school web site.

The cameras will allow our students their first opportunity to teach other students like them from all around the world. Students will gain a deeper understanding of math concepts by teaching them to strangers over the Internet. For many students, this will be the only access to technology that they will have in their entire day.
