"Doing whatever it takes to ensure success for every child." That is our motto! We are a Title I school where our students come from diverse backgrounds. Our 900 + population receives free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students have experienced significant trauma in their lives and school is a safe space for many of them.
Our middle schoolers defy the odds with their bravery.
We hope to create a loving, caring, respectable learning environment by being sensitive to both their academic needs as well as their social and emotional needs.
My Project
Games help to support students’ math learning. My hope is to make lasting math game resources for students to use in the classroom. Having fun while learning is critical for middle school students. Games provide opportunities for building self-concept and developing positive attitudes towards mathematics, through reducing the fear of failure and error. I try to incorporate both cooperative and competitive games to facilitate learning.
Games can foster communication and classroom unity.
Further, they afford opportunities for students to deepen their mathematical understanding and reasoning. Kids respond to learning when engaged, challenged and enjoying their tasks. While playing games, students develop a variety of connections with the content and can form positive memories of learning.
