My Students

In our 4th grade special education classroom we strive to make every day as special as we are. We learn in a unique way that requires our teacher to be creative, inventive and attentive. We are asking for materials that will be used to help our teacher help us to understand and be successful in math

We learn best when we can learn math by interacting with the concepts we are to learn.

The Place Value Folder Games and Operations & Algebraic Thinking Folder Games will allow us to touch and manipulate numbers to better understand how math works. This hands on approach keeps us engaged as we move forward at our own speed. This method provides a fun and memorable experience that works well in our special classroom. The horseshoe activity table is perfect for our hands-on learning center learning because our teacher can be near four of us at once. Even though the folder games will be a fun way to learn, we still need guidance and clarification from our teacher. She can help us when we need it and celebrate when we get it!

My Project

Another important and effective teaching method is for our teacher to project our lessons using a projector. We are fortunate to have a projector donated to our classroom, however, it is in the middle of our classroom on a cart. This means that the cords are stretched out on the floor and we are an active group of students. A wall mount for our projector will get those cords out of the way and be one less barrier to our learning. Lastly, we are asking for ink cartridges. Our teacher spends a lot of time examining how we learn best and creates lessons and materials to match our unique style. The curricular materials for 4th grade do not often work in our classroom and our teacher must be inventive to create materials to meet our learning styles. These materials then need to be printed out, which is very expensive. Learning can be more challenging for us than our peers in the 4th grade. We want to be successful, our teacher wants us to be successful - you can help us to be successful!

We learn best when we interact with the concepts we are to master - the learning folders will give us that opportunity.

Sometimes we need help focusing and help with looking at what we are learning in a new and more understandable way - our teacher needs to be nearby for this to happen and a horseshoe table will make this work best. Our teacher creates awesome materials that we all can see on the projector - we need your help getting those cords off the floor and also ink cartridges to print!
