Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
The students in my classroom are extremely special. They come from very diverse backgrounds. My classroom is a place for them to challenge themselves and safely take risks
I work in an inner-city school system where basic supplies are very hard to come by.
The students in my 4th grade class come to school ready to learn new things and get super excited when they are allowed to use the computers and interact with rigorous texts. They are working hard to be college and career ready and they are eager to learn.
My Project
The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Using the workshop model in math, students come to the rug with whiteboards for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. What becomes a problem is the fact that the markers never seem to last, erasers seem to disappear, and the whiteboards slowly become stained from frequent use. When something goes awry, students know that they must leave the rug quietly to get a new marker, new eraser, or the last choice, pencil and paper. I would like to make sure that students don't need to waste their time searching for the "perfectly clean" whiteboard that just doesn't seem to exist at the moment. They will have a brand new space to work along with the supplies that coincide with them.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, but you will also ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not have to worry about using our stained and broken whiteboards that currently reside in our classroom.
