Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you love math? I do and I want the same for my students! I teach a wonderful group of students at a Title I school. Over 70% of the students are Hispanic and are learning the English language.

My students are eager to learn and I want them to have the tools to help that happen!

Due to the language barrier and other socioeconomic factors, my students are not currently working on their grade level. They do not have the necessary prior knowledge or materials at home and have fallen behind their peers in mathematics. This is especially true since the pandemic. Many of them are not enthusiastic about learning math because it is difficult for them. It is hard for them to learn material on their grade level because they lack number sense and the basic skills. The lack of resources and structure during the Covid-19 quarantine also did not help the students.

My Project

The materials that have been selected for this project would enable me to provide my students with personalized learning activities that are fun! The intervention activity books for grades 2 and 3 will provide additional resources that I can use for what the students need. The games, especially the Sums in Space game, would be an excellent activity to promote fluency while having a good time. The punch cards and classroom incentives would be a wonderful way to encourage participation and cooperation. I would love the ink cartridge to enable me to create personalized activities for individual students. These materials will assist me to teach my students the skills that they need in an engaging way!
