My Project

Kindergarteners come into the classroom each day eager to learn. I would like to start my mornings off differently, with what I call a "soft start" to the day. After the students have finished their required morning procedures (eating breakfast, getting 5 books, logging their reading steps, and going to the bathroom), I would like to have the students work on academically engaging morning tubs. It is common for kindergarteners to finish the required morning procedures at various times, so that is why I would like to have these morning tubs ready for students who finish early. I plan to use these math activities and puzzles during the morning time as well as during our math block. When the students finish their math workplaces early, I would like to put one of these learning activities at their spot, so they are continuously engaged in mathematical thinking and learning.

Academic learning activities are a fun way for kindergarteners to start their day.

The students are learning their basic addition, geometric shapes, and number awareness in an engaging way each morning, which helps ease the students into the rigorous curriculum that follows throughout the day.

I was also hoping to work with students that needed emotional and social support during this "soft start" to our mornings. I am excited to offer a different way to start the kindergarteners day with the fulfillment of this project.
