My Students

My classroom is happy and engaged. We are learning to be independent and confident as we experience many new things together, and we help each other along the way.

Our school is located in New York City near Central Park, and we are a diverse, international group.

My students are eager, content and determined. In addition to learning non-stop, they also like to have fun! We are constantly coming up with new ways to make our day more dynamic by putting some "fun" into our learning.

My Project

Our new math manipulatives will help us explore different math concepts related to counting, numeration, operations (addition and subtracting) and geometry. Math is fun, and math manipulatives (hands-on experiences) are more fun! Dominoes, double-sided counters, foam dice and spinners provide students opportunities to count, add, add-on and explore conservation of number. The classroom Rekenrek will allow students to subitize (recognize quantities quickly), which will help with counting, addition and subtraction. Geometric foam shapes, geoboards, geosticks will complement our understanding of shapes--students will create shapes on the geoboards and built with geosticks to explore different kinds of triangles and quadrilaterals. The magna doodles (Magic Board) will allow students practice with recording works (numbers, shapes).

This donation will improve our classroom by providing alternate resources to explore counting, numeration, operations (addition and subtraction), and geometry.

It will provide opportunity to work and explore independently and promote mathematical thinking.
