Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a teacher at Midland Park Elementary School. I teach third graders. Midland Park elementary is a school that is diverse. A large majority of our students are Spanish speaking. This is a Title One School. I would love to be able to use Base TEe blocks in my mathematics instruction. I currently do not have any to use while teaching place value, addition, or subtraction. I feel it is necessary to use manipulatives to provide my students with a hands-on approach to math, in addition to other forms of instruction. Due to the large population of students in poverty or Spanish Speaking students, they may not have the prior knowledge or understanding of these math concepts. I believe that by using hands on manipulatives to teach math, the students from all backgrounds will be able to learn, understand, and apply the mathematic concepts involving place value. I believe that they will be able to learn the skills and retain the knowledge for their future learning experiences. Please consider donating this to our classroom. You will be giving 17 students the experience necessary for success in third grade!
