Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

These students are resilient, hard-working, and truly the best kids. My second graders are currently learning remotely from home. They sign on every day ready to learn and have fun. Despite the challenges they face every day they overcome it with their passion for learning.

My Project

These awesome second graders are general and special education students together in the same class. They work together and help one another in their learning. Most of the students within the school come from low socioeconomic households, shelters, or are new to our country. We try to provide each student with the best equitable education they deserve.

With the recent transition to remote learning, my second graders have been missing out on the opportunity to learn at school with the materials they need to succeed.

With this donation, I hope to bring some math materials and hands-on math manipulatives they can use to better understand and learn at home. The students will be able to learn how to add and subtract multi-digit number and how to identify and count money with the different math manipulatives. It has been difficult for students to interact and show their work in math. They will be able to use the whiteboards and markers to show their work and talk about their work during live lessons through remote learning.

This donation, including the headsets to help them hear the lessons clearly, will offer the students an opportunity to learn from home the way they would learn at school. These are opportunities that the students are longing for and miss due to the unprecedented situation we are in due to Covid-19 pandemic. We appreciate your donation and express our gratitude.
