Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I remember always struggling with math as a child. Having more hands-on concrete expereriences really allows children to gain a better understanding of what is being taught. They have time to develop the skills they need through exploration.

Our class is an ICT class (integrated collaborative teaching).

We have 28 second graders. 12 of our students are special needs children who have a wide range of disabilities. In addition to our special education students we also have 8 English Language learners. Our school is in a low income neighborhood New York. Our students are eager to learn and are extremely hardworking.

My Project

We are asking for math manipulatives. These materials will allow our students to gain a better understanding of the new math skills and concepts they are learning. We are asking for rulers, counters, and other materials to help our students. With these materials we will be able to provide our students small group and individual instruction to help them meet their goals and address their needs. These materials will provide our students with new and fun ways to practice their math skills.

Our students have very unique needs.

We are constantly looking for ways to engage our students and make learning fun. These manipulatives and learning centers will help engage our students and bring some fun into our classroom.
