Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
This year I made a huge jump from teaching first grade to teaching fifth! I didn't really know which resources I would need at first--which would be useful, and which wouldn't. I've taken notes on my lesson plans throughout the year to see what could have made them better and/or saved valuable time.
My fifth-grade students are bright and curious, but often lack both the foundational mathematical knowledge necessary to fully grasp grade-level standards and the tools needed to bridge these gaps in their understanding.
Our public school is also located in a high-poverty area, where the average class size is 30 students. These factors make it all the more challenging to engage all of my students.
My Project
The materials I am requesting are, for the most part, geared towards those students who need more visual and tactile experiences in order to process information in a meaningful way. However, over the years, I've found that what works best for my struggling students is often what works best for everybody! Having prepared number grids, number lines and fraction tiles that they can draw on and/or manipulate is more interesting for them, and it would save an inordinate amount of time! I envision my students being more engaged in math with these materials.
With your support, my students will be better able to meet and exceed the standards for fifth grade, and they will be able to enjoy doing so!
Most of these materials are reusable so that future classes can benefit from them, too! Your donation will help make my students' learning more fun and interesting, the value of which is incalculable!
