My Students

Take a moment to think about your kindergarten experience. Did you just get a feeling of nostalgia, too? Kindergarten is an amazing and fun time that teaches you the foundations of reading, writing, and math.

The children I teach are energetic, wonderful, hardworking students.

Some of them come from situations that no one should ever experience. They impress me every day with their awesome attitudes and desire to learn. We are a full-day kindergarten class at a Title I school. Most of our students qualify for the free breakfast and lunch program. The student population is 33% Caucasian, 26% Hispanic, 12% Asian, 11% African American, and 28% other.

My Project

My students are eager to learn everything I teach them! They can take their learning to the next level by having manipulatives for math and reading.

My students will be use the manipulatives at home during our synchronous and asynchronous instruction.

Due to the current pandemic, it is important for each student to have a set of manipulatives. The math counters will be used to help us practice our counting to cardinality standard, and they will also be used to support addition and subtraction practice. I have included colorful tiles so I can write the letters and numbers on them. This will help the students practice many ELA and math standards during small group. The storage containers help us keep everything organized so we are prepared and ready to learn.

The masks are an important thing to have because when we eventually come back to school and meet face to face, I can ensure we are being safe! Being able to give my students these resources will ultimately support the development of foundational skills in reading and math.
