I am moving into a new school and a new grade level this coming year, and am very excited about the new experiences this will bring! By moving up a grade, there are new standards in math and reading that I need to foster in my students that the materials in this project will directly tie to.
By donating to this project, you will be putting grade-level appropriate math materials and books into my students' hands, which will enrich their learning and ultimately increase their academic achievement.
Working with money, fractions, and place value are very challenging math skills that second graders are just starting to build a solid foundation in. The more exposure and play they get to have with these skills, the stronger their foundation is. These math games and manipulatives offer a fun, inviting opportunity for students to engage with these skills.
Read-alouds are also very important for second graders to learn and conceptualize complex knowledge and ideas. The books in this project are grade-level appropriate and offer students the opportunity to understand how to appropriately interact with others, problem solve, use their imagination, persevere, and increase their social and emotional awareness.
