Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My job is so GREAT! I teach kindergarten at a Title I school where most of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Almost half of my students are non-english speaking. Most of my students come to school with little knowledge of mathematical concepts. I want to give my students plenty of opportunities to build their math skills in fun and exciting ways. Sometimes kindergarten is the beginning for some and I want to take them as far as I can.

Each day my students work in math centers on skills that have been taught. They are also given time to explore and discover through hands-on learning activities. We need some new and fun math manipulatives that will engage my students in concrete learning. The skills these activities will reinforce are skills they will use for the rest of their lives.

This is where you come in! I need you to help me give my boys and girls tools that will facilitate their learning. I am requesting magnetic numbers and counters, fill in the blank counting stamps, counting and patterning puzzles, and a set of patterning rods. My students will have a blast using these new manipulatives. I can just see their little faces lighting up and those wheels turning.
