My Students

My philosophy of education is that although children learn differently, all children can learn. With the use of these arithmetic racks, we can ensure we are reaching all students and their abilities to learn!

I have 24 wonderful first graders who love school.

They are outgoing, caring, and genuinely gracious students. My students strive to learn more and more each day. This love for learning has motivated me to grow as an educator and maintain a classroom that fosters student learning.

My Project

I am passionate about teaching math and giving students the opportunity to discover various different ways to think about their learning. I have always taught similarly to our new common core standards, and love implementing these standards into my classroom. Last year I came across a common core aligned book called The Double Decker Bus. This is a fantastic book for first graders to truly explore addition and subtraction. Unfortunately, to utilize this book, arithmetic racks must be purchased. After learning how to use these racks with The Double Decker Bus book, they are a tool that can continue to be used all year long to help students succeed in math!

The days of counting on your fingers and memorizing rote facts are long gone.

We are all about critical thinking, and understanding the big picture. These arithmetic racks are an amazing tool necessary to help students grow into amazing thinkers.
