My Students

If you were asked to name your favorite subject would you reply with, Math! Unfortunately most of my students would say that Math is their least favorite subject. It breaks my heart to know that such an important subject causes confusion and frustration for my 4th graders.

I teach a group of diverse students who come to me from all walks of life.

I am a general education teacher who focuses on mainstreaming special education students into my classroom. It is important that have have resources to teach this diverse population. Many of my students come from low income families, therefore they do not have access to additional materials at home. I have fabulous and supportive parents but they often tell me Math was not a strong subject for them in school and therefore they have difficulties helping their child. Please help me change the moans and groans I get from my students when I say it's time for Math! I need your help to teach them Math skills using fun hands on materials!

My Project

Throughout the years, I have discovered that students either love or hate Math! With your help, I can ensure all of my students will say they love Math! The materials I requested will allow me to teach basic facts, numeration, time, money, fractions, measurement and probability with games! I can't wait to see my students faces when they discover we are playing BINGO to help them learn multiplication and division! I know they would love using the real world Math problem solving kit! They become restaurant guests, baseball players, and business owners in order to learn Math, how cool! I also requested games for my secure learners to play. This will allow me time to provide small instruction to my students who are struggling. As a teacher it is my job to make sure each and every students needs are met! Using the hands on materials I have requested, I am confident that my students will conquer basic Math skills and their frustrating Math days will come to an end!

I strongly believe students learn better with hands-on activities!
