Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Learning is always more fun when manipulatives are involved. As I prepared for a new school, I want my students to be able to engage with different types of math manipulatives in the building center and dramatic area. I want my students to be exposed to numerals through different activities.

My students love to manipulate objects.

That’s what makes introducing numbers, shapes and sorting concepts fun. The materials I chose were specifically geared to introduce numbers and shapes in a fun way.

In addition to manipulatives being fun, students need constant exposure to the same concepts through different forms. I chose wooden number blocks for the block area, number robots to use in the discovery center, cubes and sorting objects to practice patterns and counting.
