My Project

Math Lab Matters! Well, in my Special Education support classroom, Donors Choose has generously helped me start transforming my space from a boring windowless traditional room to an engaging, creative student centered learning space! I am hoping to add a couple more core focused seating type options. Students never gravitate to a traditional chair but to colorful flexible seats that provide movement, improve concentration and increase focus.

The flexible seating products and math manipulatives I have selected will allow more students the opportunity to use a nontraditional seat as they come to lab for additional Math academic support.

Making my room more inviting and less threatening removes potential barriers to needing academic help. Making Math Matter with our alternative education students is always a challenge. I am always creating new ways to share math lessons in a more tangible manner and using hands-on games and activities. These math supports make learning fun and purposeful! These items like dice provide interactive learning opportunities and allows students to not only visualize concepts but participate in their own learning and understanding.
