This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

5...4...3...2...1...Blast off!!! Star Ship Silberstein in route to planet Scholar! This year our students will explore the universe of learning as "Our Stars Shine BRIGHTER" and we prepare them for college. We start each day with excitement to get students ready for the rigors of the day.

I serve in a Title I school in south Dallas.

With 100% of my class qualifying as high poverty and "at-risk," it is essential that I provide them the best educational experiences I possibly can. My scholars are fun, energetic, creative, loving children that need as much support, guidance, and love as I can give them. Providing a safe, organized, accessible environment is the first step in ensuring that my students are excited and comfortable expressing themselves, taking risks, and growing.

My Project

My students need a Math in Minutes! Skill-Building Center so they have quick, go-to activities for when they are done with assignments. Students will use the Math in Minutes chart when they have "down time". I see this most frequently being when they finish work early, but I would also like to incorporate at least one question into our problem of the day. Students will reinforce and build their skills in the most essential 2nd grade skills: computation, place value, time, money, graphing, shapes, word problems, and measurement.

Donations to this project will improve the positive environment in our classroom.

These are the main topics tested on the standardized test and this center gives the students a fun reinforcement of what they're learning in other places. Not only will they feel encouraged by the independent nature of this activity center, but they will be putting in meaningful work.
