Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students are coming into upper grade math classes with a disconnect between math concepts and thinking. They have little perseverance to stick with a problem and solve it. Math manipulatives are important because they provide students with a concrete representation of abstract mathematical concepts. By using physical objects to explore and manipulate numbers, shapes, and operations, students can develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and relationships.

A hands-on approach allows students to actively engage in the learning process, making math more meaningful and enjoyable.

By working together in groups, using manipulatives, students are able to problem solve, develop critical thinking, and develop spatial awareness.

I want to help my students see math as something they can succeed with. I want to help them become deeper thinkers and develop perseverance skills. Math manipulatives, dry erase boards and math posters will help me do that.
