Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I want my students to be successful. I have a combination of students which includes: Students with English limitations as well as students with learning disabilities who benefit from a differentiated instruction. These students are not motivated to learn math and think they are just not good.

I have students with learning Disabilities, students with Limited Language Proficiency and students who are not motivated to learn math and think they are just not good at it.

Since they think they are not good at it, they do not put any effort and are not motivated. These students can be motivated by the use of laptops and/or tablets. My school is a high poverty area and some of these students can’t afford to purchase any technology. The use of computers can enhance their learning and motivation. Some of these students never get to use or play with a computer and/or tablet and being able to use it in the class will motivate them to learn. Technology is advancing daily and there are great interactive websites that these students can benefit from. The lack of the important technology has gotten in the way of their learning mathematics in an exciting, meaningful way. By using the internet in the classroom, I can individualize these students’ needs and get them motivated to succeed.

My Project

I will separate students in small groups, according to their needs and have them use this MacBook Air laptop to get them motivated, involved and engaged in the lesson. This tool being vibrant in color and speedy will capture their attention and allow them to interact with the websites I assign to them according to their individual needs. This technology will motivate my students who are not proficient in English as well as my students with learning disabilities to succeed in math.

The donation of this laptop will improve my students' learning of mathematics by motivating them as they engage in math projects and websites that can only be accessed with the use of a computer.

Some of these students do not have access to a computer because they cannot afford one. This technology will motivate my students in particular those who are not proficient in English as well as my students with disabilities to succeed in mathematics.
